Profile: Somatic Therapy – Manuela Mischke-Reeds

Manuela Mischke-Reeds, MA, LMFT, is a Certified Hakomi Therapist and Trainer, a licensed Somatic Psychotherapist, and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT 40823). She trains health professionals in the Hakomi Method in California, Australia and Europe. She recently developed a Hakomi based trauma and attachment training for clinicians in Germany. Manuela specializes in integrating somatic psychotherapy with somatic trauma therapy, attachment psychotherapy, infant mental health and movement therapy. She holds an MA in Somatic Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies, and a BA in Dance Therapy from the Naropa University. Manuela has also been a student of Buddhist meditation practice for many years and has authored two books: ‘8 Keys to Practicing Mindfulness: Practical Strategies for Emotional Health and Well Being’ and ‘Somatic Psychotherapy Toolbox: 125 Worksheets and Exercises to Treat Trauma & Stress’. She presented a clinical workshop in Sydney organised by NSW Service for the Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture and Trauma Survivors (STARTTS) in March 2020 and spoke to Karen Collier for Issue 35 of Refugee Transitions Magazine.
